Mr. Martin Dexborg
Advisor on Gender Issues, OSCE Gender Section

Mr. Martin Dexborg is a Swedish national and holds an MSc in political science from Lund University.

Prior to joining the OSCE Mr. Dexborg worked 13 years for the UN, EU and various security organizations. Mr. Dexborg deployed on his first international monitoring mission in Aceh province, Indonesia in 2005 where he served as a human rights monitor in a field office. At that time there was no gender advisors deployed to missions and a gender analysis wasn’t a natural step when planning operations or projects.

On subsequent peacekeeping/peacebuilding missions, Mr. Dexborg developed his expertise in gender issues as a way of finding methods that improved situational awareness and operational effectiveness of projects and operations. His last mission before joining OSCE in 2018 was European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) where he worked 2015-2017.
