H.E. Nargiz Gurbanova
PhD, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria

Dr. Nargiz Gurbanova was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria on 12 January 2016, and presented her credentials to H.E. Rosen Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria on 24 February 2016.

Prior to her appointment, Ambassador N. Gurbanova served as Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation and Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. Dr. N. Gurbanova had also been posted to the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Austria and the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the United States of America, where she served as Counselor, Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission.

She holds a Ph.D degree in Political Science from the University of Vienna (Austria). Her academic background also includes BA/MA in International Relations from the Baku State University (Azerbaijan), MSc in International Management from the Western University (Azerbaijan). She also studied international business at the Jönköping International Business School (Sweden) and international law at the University of Nice (France).

Ambassador N. Gurbanova was awarded with the jubilee medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan – “The Centennial of the diplomatic service of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

Ambassador N. Gurbanova is married with one son.
